Spoke Like He Believed, Spoke What He Believed - and Spoke, Like Paul

The wise know what is coming.
The wise know what is coming.

O, how I wish there were more Charlie Kirks. You see, right here in the 17th chapter of Acts, the Apostle Paul made his stand to present arguments to the philosophers, the educated, the stoics of his day. This is not unlike the way Charlie spoke; I daresay he saw his work across this nation to match the kind of work Apostle Paul did...it was his mission field. Observe how Paul did it, as he speaks in the Areopagus, which is where the Greeks brought him to learn more about what he had to say about this 'Christ' :

22 So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. 26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28 for

“‘In him we live and move and have our being’;[d]

as even some of your own poets have said,

“‘For we are indeed his offspring.’

29 Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

----Acts 17:22-31, ESV

Tell me, would Paul condone the persecution of Christians? Neither did Mr. Kirk. And yet, Charlie chose to fight against evil ideas. He challenged the evil ideas in this world. Many people fault him for using a political platform to do so. But how is it that much different than the Apostle Paul? Kirk professed Christ - often. Was he there to preach? No, and therein lies the criticism. Yet, would near as many people have ever heard the ties between conservative values and principles, the founding of our nation, AND how Jesus worked in Kirk's life, had he come out and announced that he was there to preach? Probably not, although there are evangelists who have had similar national impact. But I am not going to fault the man, for politics and a political speech forum is where he excelled. I certainly do not believe it was happenstance that this was his gift. It was where Christ blessed him in ability the most. This is just a fact.

Paul said this; "To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

----1 Corinthians 12:7-11

Charlie even spoke out, using his gift of speaking about Godly values, against the violence that had been on display so callously and heinously on a public transit train in Charlotte, NC. Charlie was in the midst of speaking out against the same kind of senseless violence in vigorous defense of his views, when the worst happened. But do not think for one second that Kirk didn't know the risks! He in some ways predicted such a horrible thing, as he ominously predicted more audacity by the enemy - EVIL. This is where I see parallels between him, and such a man as the Apostle Paul.

Is it lost on me that this happened the day before the 24th anniversary of September 11, 2001? Not at all! And I will always preach that violence escalates. So if it is our first response as a whole, in aftermath, then we are in the position to take a better, smarter way, and still choose poorly. Self-defense is one thing, but initiating violence is another. Charlie knew that as well. Why do you think the evil one would help leftism resort to this violence? Because there was starting to be a shift in the idea battle. Kirk started a fire, and it is still growing. Evil thought it might stomp out this fire with death. Ha! Ask them how that turned out after the death of Stephen. But we must remember, the battle of ideals and faith is what wins in the end. Christ should be the initiator. I've said this before, but He is outside of time now. This is what awaits all, and I mean ALL EVIL, when the Word of God steps back into this reality - 11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in[b] blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule[c] them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

-----REVELATION 19:11-16, ESV

THAT, CHRISTIANS, is what Charlie stood for. That is what we all should stand for. That is the hill Kirk died on, because he knew that in the end, when evil has to face this, Charlie and the rest of us will celebrate. Death will be defeated. Christ will have His victory; He already defeated death when He rose again.

So, yes, be righteously indignant, for the horrific loss of a man who spoke out against evil like Paul and Stephen did. But understand that the martyrdom of a revolutionist in ideas will lead to generational growth. This battle is not over. And Jesus, already won.
