Hang in There...

Hang In There, a While Longer

By Jason E. Fort

Hang in there

Just a while longer,

Just a little while longer

My Brothers and Sisters in Blue.

Although they paint us

As evil, brutal villains

And pin us once again for even more killings

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

They may curse us and spit on us

They may block up streets and roads

They may push us to the brink of our moral codes,

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

When fists and feet are flailing

And it takes two of us to take them down

And we fight for our lives rolling on the ground

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

Hang in there

Just a while longer

Just a little while longer

My Brothers and Sisters in Blue.

When the mob starts their chanting

And all the reporters start to tell their lies

And all the doubters can't believe their eyes

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

When the government starts to change

And politicians announce decisions

Making empty promises based on false vision

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

When one of our own must be rejected

When they let us down with their misdeeds

When we can't excuse their abuse of our creed

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

Hang in there

Just a while longer

Just a little while longer

My Brothers and Sisters in Blue.

When the world no longer wants us

And evil has gained its firm foothold,

And when our patrol beats are full of lost souls

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

When the wolves are at their strongest

But the sheep beg for the peacemakers,

And all hope seems to rest on the risk takers,

We still can't abandon that thin blue line.

When the Day of Judgement comes

And His Son descends from high above

When He ends all the madness with majesty and love,

And He says, "Thank you Sons and Daughters,

For holding that thin blue line."

So hang in there

Just a while longer

Just a little while longer

My Brothers and Sisters in Blue.

Thank you, each and every one of my brothers and sisters in blue.
